 Course Length:            5 Days

Course CEUs:   4.0

Course Description.

This course is an overview of various geophysical techniques used in exploration. It covers a broad survey of Gravity, Magnetic, Seismic Refraction and Reflection, Electrical, Electromagnetic and Well-logging methods. The instructor will introduce the class to these techniques; the laws of physics that underlie them, their uses and limitations and the relevant nomenclature. Exercise and numerical examples will be used to complement and illustrate the fundamentals taught in the lectures.

Learning Outcomes.

Familiarity with various geophysical exploration techniques, their uses, limitations and basic understanding of the underlying principles on which they are based.

Who should attend.

The course is offered as an overview for geologists, engineers and other geo-science personnel. It is also offered as an introduction for those who will be taking more advanced courses in seismic exploration techniques.

Pre-requisites.

Participants should have some basic understanding of elementary physics and mathematics.
